For the Beef:

• 500g beef sirloin or flank steak, sliced into strips

• 2 tbsp soy sauce

• 1 tbsp mirin

• 1 tbsp sesame oil

• 1 garlic clove, minced

• 1 tsp grated ginger

For the Teriyaki Glaze:

• 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (slurry, optional for thickening)

For the Bowl:

• 300g steamed white rice

• 200g broccoli florets, steamed

• 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Marinate and Cook the Beef
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Add beef strips and marinate for 15–20 minutes. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and cook beef strips for 2–3 minutes per side until just cooked through.
  2. Make the Teriyaki Glaze
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer, then stir in cornstarch slurry if a thicker glaze is desired. Cook until glossy, then remove from heat.
  3. Assemble the Bowl
Place steamed rice in bowls, top with grilled beef strips and steamed broccoli. Drizzle with teriyaki glaze and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve hot.
