Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
• 500g ground beef (or a beef/pork mix)
• 1 egg
• 50g breadcrumbs
• 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• Salt and pepper to taste
For the Sauce:
• 400g marinara or tomato pasta sauce
• 1 tsp olive oil (optional)
• 1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
• 1 garlic clove, minced
For Assembly:
• 4 sub rolls or hoagie buns
• 100g shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
• Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
- Make the Meatballs
In a bowl, combine ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Form into small meatballs (about 2.5 cm / 1 inch). - Cook the Meatballs
In a skillet over medium heat, cook meatballs until browned on all sides (about 8–10 minutes). Remove and set aside. - Simmer in Sauce
In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic (if using) until soft. Add marinara sauce and return meatballs to the pan. Simmer for 15–20 minutes, until meatballs are fully cooked and sauce is thickened. - Assemble the Subs
Preheat the oven broiler. Slice the sub rolls and toast lightly if desired. Spoon meatballs and sauce into each roll, top with shredded cheese, and place under the broiler for 1–2 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly. - Serve
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot with chips, salad, or fries.
