Ingredients:

For the Fried Chicken:

• 4 bone-in or boneless chicken thighs or breasts

• 250ml buttermilk

• 200g all-purpose flour

• 1 tsp paprika

• 1 tsp garlic powder

• ½ tsp salt

• ½ tsp black pepper

• Oil for frying

For the Waffles:

• 200g all-purpose flour

• 1 tbsp sugar

• 1 tbsp baking powder

• ½ tsp salt

• 2 eggs

• 300ml milk

• 60g melted butter (plus extra for topping)

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Serving:

• Maple syrup

• Butter

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken
    Place chicken in a bowl with the buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best flavor).
  2. Fry the Chicken
    In a shallow dish, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Remove chicken from the buttermilk, dredge in the flour mixture, and fry in hot oil (175°C/350°F) until golden and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the Waffles
    Preheat a waffle iron. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then cook in the waffle iron until golden and crisp.
  4. Assemble
    Stack 1–2 pieces of fried chicken on top of each waffle. Drizzle generously with maple syrup and top with a pat of butter.
  5. Serve
    Serve hot and enjoy immediately for the perfect sweet and savory experience.
