Ingredients:

For the Sloppy Joes:

• 500g ground beef

• 1 small onion, finely chopped

• 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped

• 2 garlic cloves, minced

• 200ml tomato sauce

• 2 tbsp ketchup

• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

• 1 tsp mustard

• 1 tsp paprika

• Salt and pepper to taste

• 4 hamburger buns

For the Sweet Potato Fries:

• 2 large sweet potatoes, cut into fries

• 1 tbsp olive oil

• ½ tsp smoked paprika

• ½ tsp garlic powder

• Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potato Fries
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Toss the sweet potato fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.
  2. Cook the Sloppy Joe Filling
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the Sauce
Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  4. Assemble the Sloppy Joes
Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon a generous amount of the meat mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and top with the other half.
  5. Serve
Plate each Sloppy Joe with a side of crispy sweet potato fries. Optional: serve with pickles or coleslaw on the side.
